I take every opportunity to buy old Rock Island postcard images from Arkansas. Here are the ten I own, starting with two of the Rock Island Bridge, two of the nearby Little Rock depot, one of the Rock Island track heading toward Pinnacle Mountain, in west Little Rock, where it ran alongside the Arkansas River and four depots between Little Rock and Memphis.

The following five postcards are said to have been taken by a photographer named H.D. Conner, who traveled the country between the 1960's and 80's, taking photos of old depots. What's interesting about these photos is that there was still the track alongside these stations. That track has since been taken up. Fortunately the first four depots have been preserved, most of which you can see along highway 70 through east Arkansas, which paralells Interstate 40. The fifth depot, Booneville in northwest Arkansas, sadly burned down a few years ago, with only the rock frame remaining.
